"That was the best PE lesson ever!" - announced one Our Lady Of Muswell RC Year 2 student on his way back to class.
Alexandra Park School has continued its support of the 'Haringey Multi Skills Virtual League', with Sports Leaders & APS SSCo attending local primary schools during KS 4 Core PE lessons.
The Virtual league presents a fantastic opportunity for Secondary / Primary PE Links. APS Sports Leaders benefit from the opportunity to practice their leadership skills, whilst delivering a range of balancing, running, throwing & catching challenges, to the excited Year 2's.
The infants fully appreciate the fact, that they get a lot of extra support in their PE lessons, by having many Sports Leaders working with them in small groups.
The competition is open to all Haringey Primary Schools and School Sports Coordinators can assist KS 1 teachers in administering the challenges and recording the pupils results.
This years SSCo /PLT Conference highlighted this competition, as an excellent vehicle for achieving several School Sports Partnership priorities. Namely:
- getting KS1 pupils involved in inter school competition;
- allowing intra school competition between classes;
- and providing an opportunity for Sports Leadership.
APS Sports Leaders receive training before going into Primary Schools, and have the opportunity to complete the Sports Leader UK Level 1 Award, delivered by the PE Department as an extra curricular activity. Many students use this as a part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award, also offered at APS.
