Primary Schools Gaelic Football Blitz
Primary Schools Gaelic Football Blitz
Gabor Papp | 05/05/2010
Our Lady of Muswell and Boundsgreen Primary schools contested the first APS Family Gaelic Football Blitz at Durnsford Park.
Six Yr 5 teams played off in a very competitive tournament, where students from both schools, put into practice the new skills that they have been practicing during recent curriculum time.
During the Spring term, Karen Togher, London Gaa Community Development Coach, has been making regular visits into the two schools to deliver Gaelic football lessons.
Pupils have been learning the skills, tactics and rules needed to play this fast and exciting sport.
The Blitz held on neutral ground was the perfect opportunity for the fifty or so, Year 5's to show off the skills learned last term.
The level of skill on display was very impressive considering the limited opportunities that the children have had to play on large grass pitches.
Karen and her colleagues organised a very smoothly run Blitz, which gave the students an excellent taste of gaelic football. Hopefully this will encourage many to get involved with their local club, based in Enfield.
