Haringey Are London's School Sport Champions

Stunning results at the London School Games at Crystal Palace this week, see the LYG Press Release below. Haringey are top London Borough having won the secondary schools' shield by 40 points from second place Wandsworth. This is one of the finest sporting achievements ever for Haringey and we should all be proud of the standards of PE and School Sport in our schools. The victory was achieved with a very impressive spread of schools representing Haringey in the different sports including disabilities tennis.

Not to be outdone the primary schools were just as successful in their sports. Muswell Hill Primary School were 9th in Girls' Football and bronze medallists in Hockey; Weston Park couldn't quite repeat last year's victory but won bronze in the Hi 5 Netball while Coldfall School were 5th in Boys Football and won gold, London Champions, in Tag Rugby. They will now represent London in the national Rugby tournament, an amazing honour.

Absolutely magnificent! This just shows the strength of PE and School Sport in Haringey and follows on from last year's most improved award for 8th place in the London Youth Games. With a new Professional Development programme for Physical Education about to start in Haringey Primary Schools the future looks very bright indeed.

Congratulations to all involved, students, teachers, coaches, parents, assistants, volunteers and a very supportive bunch of head teachers.
